Trend: Bohemian Bell Bottoms

bohemian bell bottoms trousers pants velvet print

The 60's are back! This summer, a trend which I wasn't so sure about until recently is coming back strong: bell bottoms. Skinny at the top and flowy from the knees onwards - the casual silhouette definitely inspires a bohemian look and gives off a summer-y vibe. This summer, you'll find these beauties in all colours and textures. From velvet over lace and fancy prints to solid colours, everything will be (and already is) represented in all kinds of online boutiques. Even jeans in this cut will make a huge comeback later this year. You can either decide to splurge on a pair by Free People or Spell and the Gypsy Collective or dabble into the style by getting a cheaper pair from Forever 21 first before committing. Or maybe you already own a pair from a few years back and just shop your own closet!
I personally was very sceptical when I heard about the comeback of this trend at first, but I have to admit that they're growing on me. Especially since they're super versatile. You can either dress them up with a nice blazer for a business-casual look or wear them on a laid-back day at the beach. The different fabrics they come in make them a great transitional piece as well, especially if you consider getting bell bottom jeans instead of a pair of light cotton trousers.

What do you think of bell bottoms? Do you love them or do you hate them?

Outfit: Fuzzy Knit and Galaxy Leggings

Galaxy Blue Leggings - Black Milk Clothing
Boots - H&M
Tattoo choker and Sunglasses - eBay

Please excuse the lack of pictures of my eye make-up but the truth is I wasn't wearing any safe for some mascara for this shoot. Since it's still quite cold in Austria, I've been fighting with dry eyes and make-up only makes it worse so I've been avoiding it like the plague lately.
I switched my usual, bright red lipstick to a brighter pink and I have to say I quite like it! The galaxy leggings are one of my favourite pair by Black Milk, which I haven't thrown out or sold yet despite the fact that they've gotten too large on me over the last two years. It's quite a shame, really, and I've meant to get a new, better fitting pair for ages, only that I always put it off.

Apparently, I must be doing something right when guys start throwing things like, "Yo, are you a model?", at my head during my outfit shootings. Frankly, I probably shouldn't have been phased in any way but it just threw me off my concept completely.
Anyway, I've been absolutely loving Dutch braids recently. I find them super easy to do, they keeep my fringe out of my face and they look great! Plus, there's an interesting contrast between my roots and my ends, which makes it look even more interesting. The outfit I'm wearing is quite casual this time, save for the bodysuit, but it's just one of the most comfortable tops in my closet. I could live in it, seriously! I'm definitely contemplating Black Milk's new Cleopatra bodysuit, which is made of the same material.

Beauty: Haircare Routine and Favourites

Haircare Routine and Favourites

I figured that since it has been quite a while since my last post on haircare products, I could give you a quick update on how I restructured my routine and what products I added to it. Ever since the start of 2015, I've been more conscious of what my hair needs and of the amount of silicone in the products I use, which is why I cut back drastically on not only silicones but also proteins. Both, if overused can lead to undesirable product buildup and tangly hair while they can do wonders if used sparingly. Here is what I figured out!

My routine consists of three steps. Conditioner, shampoo and another round of conditioner. I do this so my ends don't suffer from the sulfates in my shampoo and don't get overly dried out. Needless to say, I only shampoo my scalp, not my length. The second round of conditioner is for the added slip.

As first conditioner, I usually use the Coconut Conditioner by Desert Essence which is rich in moisture and doesn't contain any silicones. I use this first so my hair can absorb the moisture from the coconut oil and the sheabutter in the conditioner.
Then, I wash with Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Shine. It's a shampoo without parabens, silicones or dyes but heavy with sulfates. If your scalp can't handle this, you might want to reconsider it.
When I rinsed out all the shampoo and conditioner, I apply some of the Clearly Naked Shine Conditioner by Herbal Essences onto my length and leave it on for some minutes before rinsing it out. This conditioner contains one type of silicone (Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone), which can usually be washed out with any other conditioner or shampoo and doesn't cause heavy build-up.
Once a month, I use the Gliss Kur Total Repair Anti Hair Breakage Mask as a protein treatment in the place of the first C in CWC, followed by the Desert Essence Conditioner to moisturize. I only use the hair mask by Gliss Kur sparingly as it's heavy in silicones and protein.

As a leave-in, I use plain coconut oil. I add this to my lengths when my hair is still damp after washing but also to my dry hair before bedtime so my hair can soak it up over night.

If I overdid it and products start causing build-up, I clarify with my Wella Purifying Shampoo, which you can read more about in my post about clarifying.

Other than that, I frequently use dry shampoo (not pictured) to avoid over-washing my hair. I also never use any heat on my hair.

I believe that's all you need to know about how I do my hair! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Outfit: Valentine's Day

valentine1 valentine6 valentine4 valentine8 valentine3valentine2 valentine9 valentine10 valentine7
Clouds Reversible Skater Dress - Black Milk Clothing
Faux Leather Moto Jacket - Forever 21
Heeled Boots with Gold Detailing - H&M
Envelope Clutch - Primark
Rosé-Gold Jewelry Set - Christmas Gift

Here's a little taste of what my Valentine's Day outfit will look like. My boyfriend and I are honestly no big fans of the whole materialistic approach and gifting each other useless heart-shaped trinkets that collect dust in a corner, which is why we decided to go for a nice dinner instead. This is what I'm presumably going to wear. My dress is from Black Milk Clothing's last Valentine's Day collection. It has such a lovely cloud print and I don't wear it nearly as often enough as I should. Granted, it is a summer dress after all.
I'm also happy to say that my grown out roots finally start looking like an ombré instead of a case of forgetting to touch them up. The make-up I'm wearing is inspired by Zoella's latest video on YouTube because I happened to really like it.

Ellie Top - Brandy Melville
Lone Traveller Banjara Clutch - Shop Dixi

Drive Me Daisy Choker - High Heels Suicide

Long story short: There was a huge snow storm outside and my boyfriend had caught the flu earlier this week so we couldn't possibly shoot outside. I hope you don't mind this little change in settings. I hope I can get some proper outfit shoots done next week, provided the weather is a little more stable.
The outfit I'm wearing is really simple and great for lounging around (guess what I did after taking these pictures) but I really wanted to add this gorgeous Banjara clutch from Shop Dixi to an outfit after it has been sitting in my closet for weeks and weeks. It's just one of these special items that makes or breaks an outfit and I think in this case it adds an interesting vibe to my grungy look.

Outfit: Straight Off Pinterest

pinterest3 pinterest7 pinterest4 pinterest8 pinterest2pinterest1 pinterest9 pinterest5
Faux Shearling Coat - BOSROOM
Roségold Necklace - Brandy Melville

Today's outfit is something more casual and less grungy than what I usually wear. When I wore this out to town I felt like my look came straight off Pinterest. I'm only missing a roségold Daniel Wellington watch and a pair of Ray Ban's and then I'm fully set to join all the other cliché-Bloggers. (no offense)
But I did not stray too far from my personal style. The H&M boots in combination with the BOSROOM coat and the distressed boyfriend jeans by Style Moi roughen up the look just enough to make it seem less basic. Had I added a choker and my John Lennon sunglasses to the mix, the outfit would have looked even more 'me' but it wasn't particularly sunny as you can probably tell from the pictures.
My next look will probably be inspired by the upcoming Valentine's Day so keep an eye out for that. I'm not fully sure what to do yet but I can tell you as much as that it will involve either a dress or a skirt. Stay tuned!
